I (Japanese American - Nikkei which was fluent in Japanese and English) felt I was a outsider when I was living in Japan but at the same time I had a disconnect with the Japanese people. But I came to the point that if I want to continue to live in Japan I have to become like Japanese but I couldn't. I disagreed with half of the Japanese way and thinking and that is not who I was. Japanese don't like criticism of their way, new idea, or debate. That is not who I was so it was better to move back to the US. At the end it worked out... I am more successful in the US then I would be and Japan and I can be who I am. I always go to Japan or anywhere in the world by financial means now when I feel like it now. I'm an advocate for women's rights and absolutely think it's awesome that women are able to work and make a living themselves now in Japan. I don't think the problem is that they are working, but that there seems to be a very omnipresent sentiment from the respondents in all the videos I've watched from your channel's reports that they see marriage and relationships as purely transactional; e.g, what can they do for me, and not anything to do with romance or companionship. Both the men and women have responded with similar ideas, that they don't see seeking love as worth their time since they could be making money or doing something else. Is Japan just generally aromantic? Is it just that work is so hard and the hours are so long that most see anything outside of work as impossible? Or is there another reason?

Every time I go to Japan with my Japanese wife I’m left speechless by how many of these host bars there are. It’s a world which as an outsider is oddly fascinating and impenetrable. I’m not saying it’s good or I want to experience it, rather it’s just so different to things here in the UK.

lol, I was there 3 times in the past week. Alone, around midnight and also mildly drunk. Nothing happened. Mixed feelings on this. It’s the woman’s fault for being gullible and basically being pimped out. It’s the man’s fault for being such a simp and falling for the trickery of “I need 25k” route. I often go twice a year to Japan, I really love it here. In recent years I've been avoiding more and more places because of the large amount of tourists, which is good as I started to discover new remote places. I'm planning to jog from Fukuoka to Sapporo in the near future while running my business remotely. Call me silly but I always consider myself a guest when I'm visiting another country, so I always try my best to behave accordingly. I learned basic Japanese and did my best to follow implied rules (like not eating/drinking when walking, not sitting in stairs, staying silent on trains...). It's sad to put all tourists in the same basket but at the same time, what can you do? I wish I had a "green card" assessing that I'm a good tourist, I love this country, and always make sure I don't disrupt anyone there.
